Residential Part Time Direct Support Worker – Awake Nights

Community Living North Perth is growing! We are seeking to fill multiple Part Time Direct Support Worker positions. Our Direct Support Workers are a vital part of our organization as they support people with intellectual disabilities to explore their goals, share their unique talents and gifts and be active members of their community. As a Part-Time Nights Support Worker, you can be regularly scheduled between 8 to 28 hours per week on average, based on the needs of the people we support. You must be willing to work during the week and weekends and be willing to work a flexible work schedule.

About You

  • You are compassionate, with a strong desire to make a difference for the people in your community.
  • You are innovative and enthusiastic and enjoy thinking of creative ways to help people with developmental disabilities achieve a high quality of life.
  • You enjoy working with people and are a strong team player.
  • You can maintain and set boundaries.
  • You are comfortable staying awake at night to perform duties as required during the night.
  • You are resilient in all situations but especially when dealing with challenges.
  • You are comfortable working with individuals with complex medical and behavioural needs.
  • You have experience working with and being able to consistently follow a behavioural support plan.
  • You remain calm, deliberate, and reflective when faced with potentially upsetting or provoking situations.
  • You are available to work a combination of days, evenings, and weekends on a flexible work schedule.
  • You have post-secondary education in a Human Services related field.
  • You have a valid G Driver’s License, clean driving record, proof of insurance and access to a personal vehicle.
  • You have a current First Aid / CPR certificate.
  • You are vaccinated for Covid 19, including the first two shots plus the booster.
  • You can provide a satisfactory Vulnerable sector criminal reference check.
  • You are comfortable with technology, including internet, phone apps and email.

You will:

  • Commit to staying awake during the night to provide assigned duties and be responsive to the needs of individuals.
  • Assist the individuals you support to actively participate in community programs and events of their choosing.
  • Provide support to participants in their homes and in the community.
  • Be flexible to change at any time as each person directs their choice of activities.
  • Provide transportation for the individuals you support to and from specific destinations.
  • Provide some personal care assistance and/or assistance with medication administration, as
  • Promote the agency’s mission and values and be a positive role model while interacting in community.
  • Communicate regularly with the team, coordinators, and managers.
  • Nurture positive collaborative relationships with other staff, co-ordinators, and management.
  • Work effectively with individuals, other staff, families, and the community.
  • Complete required training, including training in G-Tube care and seizure management protocols.
  • Be willing to continue to learn and grow in your professional career.
  • Ensure accuracy and completion of all required documentation, including all daily records and reports.
  • Work in a safe and responsible manner and attend mandatory training as required.

Compensation Details

  • $27.39 per hour
  • Overtime at 1.5 times hourly over 44 hours worked in a week
  • Eligible for benefits and RRSP, dependent upon regularly scheduled hours
