Responsibility: Providing supports to people with developmental disability to live fulfilled lives.
Vulnerable Sector Police Clearance issued by local police station within the last 12 months
Valid Ontario G2 or G driver’s license
Completed Health & Safety Awareness Certificate (free training available online atwww.labour.gov.on.ca)
Current certification in CPR/First Aid
DSW or equivalent preferred; minimum grade 12 education
Minimum age of 18 years
Experience working with people with a developmental disability in a community oriented setting
Current CPR and First Aid certificates
Good driving record and a reliable vehicle.
Effective problem solving, decision making and communication skills
Knowledge of the Community of North Perth
Proficiency in the use of computer programs such as Word processing, Spreadsheets, Databases, E-mail and Internet.
Assist people to realize their potential as persons and the responsibilities they have as citizens in their community
Respect and be actively supportive of the choices people make
Be a strong advocate for the people supported
Be reliable, punctual, flexible and innovative
Promote the vision and mission of Community Living North Perth
Provide the creative supports necessary to assist people in achieving their goals/dreams
Assist people being supported in meaningfully participating in community life and in developing natural supports
Enhance the independence and quality of life of the person being supported
Anticipate, respond and advocate with respect to health, welfare and personal issues related to the people being supported
Work closely with teams of support workers to enhance and improve the supports provided
Maintain an active role with families
Take an active and involved role in organizational meetings
Conduct oneself in a professional manner at all times when representing Community Living North Perth and be aware of the ongoing opportunity for public relations
Display a positive and respectful attitude towards others when representing Community Living North Perth
Familiarity with and action in accordance with the policies and procedures of Community Living North Perth
All staff are required to sign a confidentiality document and provide a satisfactory criminal reference check
Other duties as assigned
Staff providing night support may be permitted a number of hours of sleep based on the identified needs of the people being supported. Hours of sleep will be paid at the identified rate
Community Living North Perth is only able to consider applicants for interviews who have had a Police Vulnerable Sector Check issued by a local police station within the last 12 months. If your police clearance was issued over 12 months ago please consider obtaining a renewed copy from your local police station before you apply for a position with us.
While a Police Vulnerable Sector Check could take up to 3 months to process, you may be eligible to pay for an expedited service. Please contact your local police station for further information.
